Dendrons – B4
Chicago’s Dendrons pull off something tricky on “B4”: they build tension without ever releasing it. The track from their upcoming album “Indiana” strips back their post-punk sound to its essentials, letting each element breathe. Sparse drums keep time while guitars sketch out minimal patterns, creating space rather than filling it.
What makes “B4” work is its restraint. Most bands would push this arrangement toward a big finish, but Dendrons cut it off right when you expect the payoff. That discipline shows confidence. They’ve already proven they can make noise with earlier single “Tuck Me Under”, so now they’re exploring what happens when they hold back.
“Indiana” drops next week on Candlepin Records, and if “B4” indicates where they’re headed, it should be worth checking out.
